Lake of Sainte-Croix

Formed in 1973 after a dam was built across the River Verdon, the Lake of Sainte-Croix is a part of the southern Alps that is very popular with visitors, and where it is easy to spend your camping holidays at the waterside. Straddling the Var and the Alpes-Maritimes departments, this artificial lake has a great reputation among fans of water sports. The spot is also at the foot of the magnificent Verdon Gorge, which is visited each summer by thousands of holidaymakers who come to row down the river by canoe.
